Corgi Toys

Corgi Toys, launched in 1956 by Mettoy Playcraft Ltd in Swansea, Wales, became famous for being “the ones with windows,” offering die-cast vehicles with added realism. The brand thrived in the 1960s with popular models like the James Bond Aston Martin DB5. Throughout the 1970s, Corgi maintained success with TV and film tie-ins but faced rising costs and competition.

Mettoy collapsed in 1983, and the Corgi brand changed ownership several times. In 2008, it was acquired by Hornby Hobbies. Today, Corgi remains iconic, producing collectible and toy models appreciated for their detail, innovation, and cultural significance.
